Rob on Erie: Rob Richards made
the State Team via the 6-Man on Kerr.
Rob fished Lake Erie September 20-26
practicing three days prior to the three day tournament. Rob found both largemouth and smallmouth
willing to bite during practice. Day one
Rob had 2 fish for 5lbs 10 ounces, 2nd day he faired much better
with a limit of smallmouth at 11lbs 7 ounces, and on the final day he had 3 largemouths
for 6lbs 8 ounces for a three total of 23lbs 9 ounces and good enough for 25th
overall and 4th on the Virginia State Team. Results can be viewed at: http://tbf.flwoutdoors.com/tournamentTBF.cfm?cid=80&t=resultsTBF&tid=6115&tyear=2008
Region 1 Update: Nova Bass Anglers finished fourth out of eleven bass clubs
for the 2008 Region 1 season. We had four anglers make the 20-man Region 1 team
this season. Congratulations to Frank
Schlenter, 3rd place R1, and big fish of the year. John Fravel 12th place R1. Mike Rush 14th and John Malerich
20th. All four anglers
competed in each R1 event and made consistent points in each to place in the
top 20. They will all fish the 20 man
tournament on the Potomac October 25th
and 26th. See the complete R1
results http://vtbfregion1.com/index.html
Chuck and Brad: Congratulations to Chuck Perry and Brad Whitfield. These two teamed up to fish the VA FOMTT
(Fishers of Men) and made the 2008 regional championship! Winner of the Regional takes home a bunch of
cash and a new Triton Boat. Go get em’
boys.
NOVA CLASSIC October 18th
and 19th
The Nova Bass Anglers faced many challenges during the two
day year end classic tournament. The FLW
Outdoors Stren Series tournament took place all week with 192 fishermen beating
up the river. Saturday brought a severe cold
front with strong northeasterly winds gusting to 25mph for year end Classic
tournament. The leading stringer for Saturday went to Lee Branham with 12.46lbs
of Potomac largemouth reportedly coming from
points north of Pohick. Second on day one was Gary Griffin with 10.67lbs, and
third was Rodney Upchurch with 8.61lbs.
Nine other anglers were within 2lbs of third place after day one. Day two Sunday was more of the same cold
north winds gusting to 20mph. Most fish
reportedly caught on moving baits. Day
one leader Lee Branham brought 7.94lbs to the scales for a two day total of
20.4. Congratulations Lee!!! Second place with a two day total of 17.61lbs
went to John Fravel, and third place went to the bass veteran Chuck Perry with
17.55lbs. Another tight battle for the 2nd
and 3rd place spots with 7 anglers within 2.5lbs of second place for
both days.

Federation Tournaments You Should Know About!
There are three Federation
Tournaments that will be hosted in October 2008 and either April or May of
2009. And many of you are fishing for a chance to enter them now!
They are the Mr. Bass
Tournament, The Chapter Team Tournament, and the Region 1 Fall Classic.
You can win entry in the Mr.
Bass Tournament by being one of the two best fishermen in Nova Bass Anglers. The Chapter Team Tournament is a two day
tournament at Kerr Reservoir and six of our club members will have the
opportunity to fish it. Region 1 hosts a Fall Classic Tournament for anglers that are in the top 20 at the end of the season.
Winning any of the Federation
Tournaments listed above will put you on the Virginia State Team. The Virginia Team is composed of the top two
finalists from the Mr. Bass tournament, the four top finalists from two Chapter
Team Tournament (Region 1 and 9), and the top two individuals from the Fall
Classic Tournament.
The Virginia Team will fish the Interstate Tournament and have their
expenses paid for (within limits). It’s a
very prestigious opportunity for TBF members—and it takes a lot of fishing
success to get there.
Our own Rob
Richards has made the Virginia Team by qualifying for, and winning the Chapter
Team Tournament at Kerr Reservoir earlier this year. Let’s wish Rob the best of luck upcoming at
the Interstate Tourney.
Frank Schlenter, John Fravel, and Mike Rush, are currently in the top 20 for Region 1.
Also
keep an eye in club standing for Club Kudos and trophies and
eligibility for the next Six Man team and Mr. Bass. Good luck to
everyone and let's have fun! Its a great club.
